Abstract

This study focuses on the analysis of the technological tools most used by the teachers of the Ibarra Educational Unit (UEIbarra) in the teaching-learning process. Indeed, what is intended is to determine the types of computer applications, as well as to establish the frequency and forms of use of these technological resources. In the methodology, a mixed investigation was used, with a concurrent triangulation method. Two questionnaires were applied, the first in January 2018, and the second in June 2020; Of the teachers surveyed, 63.7% were women and 36.3% were men, between 25 and 59 years old. From the analysis carried out, it is determined that the entire teaching staff has incorporated, to a greater or lesser degree, technology in the curricular execution as a response to the educational policies of Ecuador; but also, to stay at the forefront of the digital age and knowledge. However, access to training programs for the development of technological skills is limited, so most teachers have opted for self-training. Hence, only 3.51% of those surveyed consider that they have an advanced level in the management of application and educational software. Consequently, the incorporation of ICT in the teaching practice of the UEIbarra during the last decade has been improving; however, it requires decisions and actions that guarantee its sustainability, in a way that contributes to the assurance of educational quality.
