Abstract

People with disabilities have been historically relegated from all social spheres and education is not an exception. Therefore, it is essential to sensitise teachers and students on disability issues as a fundamental step on the road to inclusive education. To fulfil this purpose, an open educational resource (OER) called Reasens was developed. After having applied the Reasens course to teachers and students of the University of Guayaquil (UG), it was necessary to carry out an evaluation in order to know whether the course fulfilled its purpose of raising awareness. This descriptive study with a qualitative-quantitative scope analysed the results of an ad hoc survey applied to 101 teachers and students of the UG. The results obtained are positive, the course did achieve its purpose of raising awareness of disability and the audiovisual narratives used as a didactic resource attracted attention and allowed participants to adopt a more empathetic attitude towards disability.
