Abstract

This essay presents the results of a study in postgraduate students about their perception and opinion of digital competence in terms of limitations and opportunities for teachers in the 21st century. The study results show the importance they attach to the digital competence in different areas (personal, social, family, academic, economic) resulting a discursive profile that indicates they can not imagine their daily lives without the use of technologies and without continuous learning and updating to improve their lifelong learning. The qualitative study analysed with NVIVO program, evidences the importance teachers and future teachers give these competences and the need felt to dominate them for teacher performance, which leads to the need to raise them not only in the initial teacher training but in lifelong learning.
