Resumen

This Doctoral Thesis presents a rigorous scientific study of information technologies in higher education, highlighting their importance given that they support universities´ management, competitiveness improvement and institutional performance. This is done in depth with the following topics: critical success factors for the implementation of information systems; quality standards, management indicators and evaluation elements of the DeLone and McLean model for information systems successful implementation, which have an effect on the universities’ position in international rankings or obtaining national or international institutional accreditations. The relevance of this research is that for the first time, these topics are focused on universities in Latin America, being this Doctoral Thesis a pioneer in its field.
