Abstract

The use of new technologies and component miniaturization in electronics allow the development of systems based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities to process the information provided by external devices, like accelerometers, to supervise the user in a similar way as a trainer could do. In this article we present an architecture composed by a Case-based Reasoning (CBR) engine combined with accelerometers as measuring devices for obtaining data. This architecture may be used to supervise, inform and alert the user about the physical activity performed (feedback CR) or about how physical exercises are executed (feedback CE). Besides, with this system it is possible to suggest new physical activities (feedforward) in a cheap way, concerning an economic point of view; and in efficiently way, concerning the analysis of the parameters implied with the supervision.
