Abstract

Due to the need to ensure that the explicit learning in the exit profile are effectively achieved by the students of the different careers taught by the Finis Terrae University, the problem that has been addressed in this research has arisen. This study is developed methodologically as an action research that aims to solve a real problem related to the need to improve the curricular design by professional competencies of the University's careers. The work was conceived with a cyclical character that implied a recursive process of action-reflection that allowed to advance, to integrate and to complement the phases of the research design, conducted and negotiated with the teachers of each one of the college career selected for this study. The main findings show that the intermediate evaluation of competences has resulted in an authentic evaluation that has allowed it to be translated into a learning instance and be assumed by the university community as such. It has also generated knowledge about curricular development by competencies and the need to review other instances of assessment of end of career. On the other hand, it has shown that action research is the ideal approach to systematically and reflexively guide the processes of curricular innovation.
