Abstract

This paper presents the results of an research about university training, which is developed and granted in the frame of The Teaching Quality Program in the University of Seville. This project is proposed in order to test the power of the press as a didactic resource in the subject Methodological foundations of Educational Research, which is given the first year in the syllabus of Pedagogy in the Faculty of Education Sciences. For that, six pieces of news are selected and experimented with three groups of students. The results of this experimentation are: a) according to students learning, the press is useful to promote a basically instrumental thinking (91,4% of the students) and, b) according to students opinion, the practical activities in its entirety are assessed with a high score by the 94,8% of the students. The results suggest that it is necessary to include the gender perspective for the selection and experimentation of didactic resources in the university classrooms, since students motivation towards this subject and their level of learning seem to be linked to their roles of gender.
