Resumen

There is a widespread belief that technologies are a danger for study abroad because students can be connected with their family and friends and use their dominant language. Although this may be taken to the extreme, it is also true that the growing presence of technologies in our daily lives makes possible emerging activities that can have a positive effect on language acquisition. In this article we identify and describe some language-related activities that can enhance the learning of the target language while abroad. We connect the literature review with our experience was teachers of Spanish in an immersion setting, identifying three types of uses of technology which can facilitate learning of the target language: 1. Blogs; 2. Social networks; 3. Dictionaries and online exercises with feedback.
