Resumen

This work aims to build the Frequency and Response to Conflicts in Couple Relationship Scale, in order to provide a tool which is clear and useful to assess the conflict dimension within couple relationships, and to analyze their psychometric properties. 620 persons from Asturias and Málaga (Spain), who were in a relationship, took part in this study. 57.7% were women, 54% were single, 66.1% lived with their partner, and 57.9% did not have children. The sample was divided in two random subsamples in order to study the factor structure; a cross-validation was used, consisting in an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) on the first subsample, and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on the second one. Results showed a scale with seven items and three factors (conflict frequency, positive response and negative response) explaining the 68.5% of variance with an adequate reliability (α=.79).
