Abstract

The fundamental purpose of this research is to identify situations that endanger the academic trajectory of university students; As well as, to establish the relationship between the problems identified and a set of factors such as age, marital status and type of housing. For this, we have used an ex-post-facto methodology with a descriptive design. The sample amounts to 86 students of the University of Seville, who began their studies in the academic year 2009/2010, not returning to enroll in the following two courses. The study was performed using the multivariate statistical technique of Simple Correspondence Analysis (SCA). The results show that dropout is the result of variousfactors that put in interaction trigger situations of risk. These results are conclusive with previous research; in this way we do a series of approach that can serve as reflection for academic leaders to maximize the use of resources allocated to higher education, as well as, to optimize policies for access, permanence and educational quality.
