Resumen

Values education is crucial to promote a comprehensive or holistic development of students. Many researches have analyzed over time the effects of education on values related to the holistic development of children. However, there exist nowadays many positions as regards the way in which these values have to be taught in school centres. The main objective of this research is to know the programs which have been already used in children’s values education, the way in which these programs have been developed and applied in educational centres. Moreover, this research tries to assess the teachers’ level of knowledge as regards these programs. Therefore, a bibliometric review was performed (161 programs) in the period 1986- 2015, and 20 interviews with teachers from different school centres. There was an evidence of the relevance of values education and the need to promote alternative educational models which let us educate children in a holistic manner.
