Abstract

The article studies the opportunities and difficulties that the European Higher Education Convergence framework entails for university teacher training. On the one hand, the effects on university teacher training as a whole and how this effect may lead to the introduction of the new Information and Communication Technologies are analysed. However, the main aspect tackled in this work refers to the need of establishing a reference framework for teacher training and innovation. It therefore examines some of the starting situations and takes into account teachers’ learning experiences as the basis for innovation in university education. Finally, some lines of action that guide the implementation of training programmes are explained.
