Abstract

In this paper we present a non-formal educational activity promoted by the University for families, university teachers and students in training. The activity is a music education workshop for children aged two. They attend accompanied by a family member, usually the father and / or mother, once a week to develop a musical activity for half an hour at the Faculty of Education. The workshop is taught by a specialist lecturer in Early Childhood Music Education and teacher in training and students of different degrees attend as observers. The workshop arises from the belief that musical activity strengthens the family bond through a shared experience that allows for within the family a relationship based on listening and dialogue. The musical is not only an emotional activity but is a complex cognitive process through which soft skills, which are vital to the overall development of children, are promoted. It also allows to generate connections between theory and practice for university teachers and students in training. We have used the case study approach. With observations and depth interviews we have known the implications and influence the development of this activity on the participants. Among the most important findings we highlight the acquisition of relational habits in children, creating spaces of non-verbal communication within families, the implementation of research spaces and actual practices that allow carrying out processes of educational intervention with a real useful for teachers and university students to promote their professional development.
