Abstract

Current social needs lead to a reconsideration and adaption of the educational paradigm present in universities. Thus in 2010/11 it was born the Office of University-Society Relations (ORUS) of the Faculty of Teacher Training of the University of Barcelona. This faculty has nearly 3000 undergraduate students, 600 postgraduate, master and doctoral students, and 331 professors. The project presented here, encouraged by the Dean’s team and unique in the entire University of Barcelona, encompasses three lines of action: 1. Promote mutual understanding, collaboration and transfer of knowledge among different associations, organisations, publishers, museums, etc., involved in the educational world, and the faculty itself. 2. Link and undertake training and research projects that explore the transformation that is experiencing the information and communication society, and which respond to the needs of our students as future education professionals. 3. Promote the development of the EHEA in the Faculty of Teacher Training through various projects related to research and innovation focused on the knowledge of the society around us. Thus from ORUS we consider various objectives related to two lines of action: the projection (University-Society) and reception (Society-University), which are specified in the establishment of agreements and joint actions in which students and professors from the Faculty complement their training and sphere of activity, extrapolating knowledge and education outside the classroom. In this document we present some of the specific actions that have been made in the ORUS since its foundation, as well as new lines of action we want to incorporate in the following academic years, which reaffirm the need for such office in favour of the engagement of the University with the Society
