Resumo

The concept of educators’ digital competency encompasses concepts such as teachers’ degree of digital literacy and understanding, the requirements for which vary depending on a teacher’s educational level, field and specific area of specialization. Certain specific digital knowledge is needed in the case of university-level professors teaching Music Education classes within degree programs in Education. The article describes the process used in the design (carried out with the help of a panel of 16 experts) of a questionnaire to measure the digital compe-tency of these professors. It also details the reliability and validity testing of the questionnaire, a procedure that was accomplished by administering it to a sample of 93 professors from 45 different Spanish universities. The results show that the instrument has a good level of reliability and internal consistency, which guarantees its ap-plicability and relevance in assessing university music professors’ digital competency and use of digital technology.
