Resumen

The following paper analyses the results obtained from a qualitative research performed on the educational programs designed for Early Childhood education students in three Madrilenian museums from three different sectors: historical-cultural heritage, artistic and scientific. Non-participant observation, interviews and visual analysis of photographs were used to collect information. The analyzed educational programs of these museums adjust to the autonomic curriculum and use suitable strategies to promote literacy according to their specific needs. Some shortcomings were found, such as the lack of professionalization of the museum educators and guides, as well as the scarce use of games as a methodological strategy. Museum education is a complement to school learning that provides a didactic experience with real and representative objects and opens up possibilities for collaboration between various educational institutions.
