Resumen

The current society demands that Higher Education guide its goals to the development ofcritical and independent thinking in students, as well as the ability to learn throughout life(Unesco, 1998), which implies that teaching-learning methodologies should focus efforts onthe thinking skills development and the construction of knowledge rather than only on itstransmission. The present research aims to explain and analyze the thinking processes ofargumentation and metacognitive that are activated by first-year undergraduate studentsin the field of Education, when they undergo a process of systematic discussion through asoftware. The research methodology will be mixed (Cuanti-CUALI). The quantitativeorientation will involve the application of instruments, whose data will be analyzedstatistically. The qualitative approach will allow to explore the thinking processes studiedand the results of the pedagogic activity carried out.
