Abstract
This article provides a global view of the world water crisis, its causes and effects in a short term. Therefore, the main activities and stakeholders in the global response to the access to water and sanitation crisis are summarized in this article. Some critical aspects are also analized: Human Right to Water, relationship between water and human development or the effect of the climate scenarios to water scarcity, among others. Some goals in the way of solution are highlighted in this article, specially the relationship of water in the sustainability cycle of the emerging policies and strategies oriented towards a better governance of water resources.
