Abstract

A great discussion is kept on the subject of the old age reality, due to the increasing interest that some different points of view and trends of analysis have on this age group. From the educational point of view, we have been realizing a work-in-progress investigation for the last years in the Department of Didactics and School Organization of the University of Santiago de Compostela. This investigation deals specially with the essential relation of the elderly with the school. This way, we are introduced in a very-little studied field in educational and gerontology literature, towards a reflection of the old age reality in the classroom ¿that we find essential- and its integration on the school plans. This article presents a brief synthesis of the characteristics of this investigation, aimed at the analysis of the models of representation of the elderly in the text books used in Galician schools.
