Abstract

Nowadays there are a lot of negative stereotypes towards the old people surviving and reinforcing: on their ability to work, to have relations, to move, to live in the same way as the rest of the people... Negative prejudices of all type added to our culture by transmission and reinforcement since a lot of areas: administration, media, Internet, social institutions, relationships, family or even school. Since a didactic point of view, we ought to stand out on the role played by the textbooks on the construction of attitudes towards old age by the younger generations, as textbooks are a fundamental transmitter of contents in the education process. We cannot avoid the great significance of training and education as generators of attitudes and values towards old age, and we have to fight for an education with a real and revalued conception of old people.
