Abstract
A number of studies have addressed students' lack of motivation for learning, especially when it comes to music, in the secondary school setting. Implementing innovative methodologies from a paidocentric approach has been proposed as a possible solution. This paper aims to understand the causes of this problem by analysing the students' perceptions as collected through both a questionnaire and direct observation in several classrooms. The results obtained show that it is necessary to adopt an innovative approach to music education based on the students' interests. Thus, we propose an escape room activity designed by the students using ICT resources within the framework of Project-Based Learning.
