Resumen

Multi-grade, multi-level, inter-level or multi-age classrooms, or whatever denominations are used to designate classrooms where we find students with different ages and levels that requires professional competencies and skills to many teachers that have not received training. In the same way, its existence, organization and operation is unknown to a large part of the teaching staff. From a methodological dimension, individual open interviews and two discussion groups in which 16 teachers, who have taught in multigrade classrooms in Andalusia, have participated. Their reports show, on the one hand, the formative limitations of the teaching staff linked to the particular didactic, organizational and methodological competences that the teaching staff must have to teach in these classrooms and for which they have not been trained at the university. On the other hand, the potentialities inherent in these classrooms (good classroom climate, temporary availability, increased capacity for student participation and personalization of teaching) allow the development of quality teaching-learning processes.
